Rori Layne Fry
Our Sunshine Girl
You were dreamed of, wished for, cherished and loved by your parents, Adam and Ariel Fry, before you were born on February 16, 2022, and now infinitely.
Rori has the sweetest, most adventurous and independent spirit. She played with her mom and dad in multiple states, already had a passport, and was learning how to tolerate her bike helmet. It was in her genes. From camping at Bear Lake to hikes and sledding in the Wasatch to boating, Rori was built for, and thrived, in any adventure. Whether it was catching confetti on the field at the Pac-12 Football Championship game or attending two historic Rose Bowls with the Utes, Rori was at the center of the action. She delighted in all the moments in between, from capturing the attention of the flight attendants, to living it up on huge hotel beds, or simply swinging in her backyard.
She also shined in the simple moments. Often called the ‘unicorn baby,’ she was magical and rare with her ceaselessly happy, adaptable nature. Her parents’ unwavering admiration, support and patience gave her a foundation to freely explore the environment around her with constant curiosity. She also loved food. Ariel made it a goal for Rori to try 100 foods before she turned one, and Rori raced by this goal long before the finish line and delighted fellow diners at Bombay House with her squeals of excitement for new food. To be sure, she often let it be known if she thought food wasn’t being fed to her fast enough. From her FaceTime waves, to peek-a-boo, to her attachment to her favorite remote, to her rapidly steadying toddles, to cuddles and (mostly) gentle pets with her golden retriever, constant companion and big sister Toolie whom she called by name, Rori made the world around her warmer and brighter.
Your unexpected passing on April 22, 2023 leaves us forever changed. Rest in your brilliance Ro. We feel your warmth. We see you shine. We love you.
